Using Video to Recruit Employees

The methods that workplaces use to recruit new employees are changing. Many recruiters are moving away from the traditional paper CV. The proliferation of social media means that recruiters can quickly and simply find out information about potential candidates. And many recruiters are now using video in a number of ways to find the perfect person for their job.

Video CVs

Video CVs are rapidly growing in popularity in the world of recruitment. Video CVs can be recorded proactively by a candidate in place of a traditional CV. Alternatively, as is becoming increasingly common, employers can request that potential candidates produce CV videos as part of their application. They may even provide a list of questions of the candidate to answer. This means that the employer is only hearing information that is relevant to their recruitment process. They also get a taste of the candidate’s personality and presentation skills.

Video Interviews

Video is now increasingly being used in place of a face-to-face interview. It can be used at any stage of the recruitment process to gauge a candidate’s suitability, and can be extremely beneficial for both the employer and the candidate. Unlike face-to-face interviews, video interviews can be recorded for later review. With video conferencing facilities, a number of employees can take part in the interview process, even if they are not in the same office. Video interviews can be conducted at any time without the employer or candidate having to travel. This can reduce the overall time for recruitment and also means that the candidate doesn’t have to take time off from their current job.
